The Adaptive Built Environment Lab (ABEL) is a research laboratory at the University of Florida (UF) directed by Dr. Ryan Sharston, which focuses on how an adaptive built environment contributes to both the mitigation of the effects of Climate Change and the health and well-being of its occupants. Through multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional collaborations, ABEL also addresses the long-term resilience of net-zero emission buildings in the face of natural disasters and global temperature rise. The lab is a part of the Florida Institute for Built Environment Resilience, the School of Architecture, and the Rinker School of Construction Management at UF.
